Kart has severe damage, it is a very good thing Jaz decided not to race in the 2nd heat and the feature. I took the Kart to a friends house, that has a welder and other tools that I lack, to have it repaired. Of course I had to ask this favor over the Memorial day week-end... you know I'm going to be in debt for the rest of my life! We did manage to patch it together enough and with the body panels off Jaz took her Kart to St. Albert's parking lot on Monday (Memorial day) to make sure it was driving, steering and braking OK. Now for some finishing touches and putting it all back together.
Last week I picked up an air tank ($20), tool-kit ($60) and spare tire for trailer ($32) because spending money on this thing has just become second nature for us!
Wednesday night, I picked the Kart up from Mike's. The body panels are on but I ran out of bolts and washers, so another trip to the hardware store tomorrow. Mike welded a step for Jaz so getting in the Kart should be much easier. We set the Kart on a pair of saw horses which made working on it much easier. I feel very good having someone else go thru and correct things properly and having the room and space to work on it. The Kart has been rebuilt, it is stronger, it is faster and is becoming the 6 Million dollar Kart!
Good night for Team J, 7 Karts showed up for Jaz's class tonight (2 new rookies). Jaz was really glad to see another girl in the class. Great weather and something was in the air as everyone was just having a fun night. Jaz ran her hot laps and said the Kart was running good. The 2 new rookies were getting their feet wet. One didn't stop at the start/finish line and ran into the back of another Kart while the other one hit an orange cone and ran over the fire extinguisher coming out of the hot pit area. Jaz was in a great mood and that set the tone for the night. Not sure where she finished in the first heat or the second heat as there was several spin outs and lapped traffic but were sure it was somewhere in the middle. We were just glad that Jaz didn't get into anyone and ran a good clean race. Even the feature was good and again we were not exactly sure where she ended up. After last week she needed to just have a fun week. We got to meet some more new people and did I mention the weather was GREAT!
More expenses that I forgot. I picked up 2 folding saw horses to put the Kart on to work with for $17/each. I also picked up a spare tire carrier to mount on the trailer for $26 this afternoon - you thought I was kidding about the 6 Million dollar Kart :)
Have the results from the Feature:
