Not much to report as we didn't race last week. Kart has just been sitting in trailer waiting to run...

It was really weird loading up this week, all we did was check tire pressures and go! It felt like rain in the air but a check of the weather showed no rain expected. We headed out to the track with overcast skies. 15 Rookie cage karts! They ran an A and a B heat. Jaz went out with the B heat with 7 Karts. Her first heat she got a 5th place finish and the weather was starting to look worse. Her second heat race and she was running 2nd when she spun out coming out of turn 4, she went all the way around but collected her thoughts and continued on for a 6th place finish. Now we were getting some lightning in the distance!

Jaz felt uneasy about the weather and was really nervous about the lightning. We assured her that if it got close enough the officials would let us know. She suited up to get ready for her feature race when someone came around saying the races were cancelled and to start loading up. Not sure what was going on, Jaz started getting her gear off and I went to find an official to see what the deal was. On the starting line I was told it was a "GO" and to hurry and get the karts ready to run. I ran back to the pits and once again Jaz suited up to race. She really didn't want to run and was tired from school earlier in the day and now the weather, but she was ready to go.

We were all lined up with motors revving when the track officials told us to shut the motors off and flee for our lives because of the lightning and it was everyone for themselves!

Ok, it was a bit calmer than that :) They announced racing was cancelled due to lightning approaching and we would run a double feature next week. We all shut-off our motors, turned the Karts around and headed back to the pits. We loaded up in a hurry, it was just sprinkling a bit but the lightning was cause for concern. The trip back home was uneventful and we unloaded without any rain. Better safe than sorry!
