Picked up a new seat cushion and some racing gloves for Jaz ($99). She was just using some motocross gloves and borrowed some racing gloves from Ryan last week and really liked them.
We were told at last weeks driver meeting that we can meet at 60th & L to have the kids go over and learn about taking care of their Karts. Jaz and I decided we would go and we took our buddy Winchester with us as he wanted to see what all this racing was about. Awesome time! We met Skip who drives in the "Animal" class and he talked with Winchester and even let him sit in his Kart. Steve went thru a check list with Jaz on what she needs to do every week before racing and actually had her do it. We checked the rear gear and it was a 62 so we changed that out for a 60 and talked about tire pressures. They even had hotdogs!
Pulled Kart out Thursday night and finished getting it ready. Sounds like Grandpa Jim and our buddy Winchester are going to the track with us! It will be cool.
Awesome night! It was pretty hot at the track till the sun went down, we took plenty of water. She borrowed Ryan's racing jacket from last year and it was a better fit so we purchased it from him. The changes to the Kart (gear, gloves, jacket, seat cover & tire pressures) were in the right direction as Jaz ran much better. She really improved on her starts and was able to stay with the field during the race. She weighed 318lbs at tech so we removed some weight and she ran across the scales at 313-314lbs.
Jaz finished 15th out of the 16 Karts in the feature.
After the racing was over, Jim got to take one of the "animal" Karts out on the track for 5 laps - I see his very own Kart in the future!
Grandpa Jim, our buddy Jim, Dad Jim, Mom Joy, Sister Jamie, driver Jaz and we parked next to James - Team J Racing!
