Since we missed last week the Kart is ready to go. I did stop out and pick up a one-man brake bleeding kit ($8). We missed the Steve's Tuesday night Kart-fest as Jaz had a scheduled softball game.

Busy Week-end for us and we had lots to do this week. Jaz and I weren't in the "racing" mindset and we were thinking about skipping the races. Then Joy declared it was Friday and on Friday's we race - so we packed up and headed for the track! Tons of holiday traffic on the interstate and around Gretna traffic was stopped and then routed in one lane as an accident had just happened ahead of us.

Jaz ran her hotlaps and then got out of the Kart, since we didn't run last week we watched the make-up feature races from last week. It was cool being able to watch the other races, usually we are tied up with her Kart in the pits and don't get a chance to catch the other races. She ran her 1st heat race and we noticed she was sliding around a bit in the corners. When I went to get her after the race she was singing - Jaz was back! I asked her if the track was slick and she said "nope" and that she had just found a way to get around the corners. She was just out there driving around having a ball!

Heat race 2 didn't go as well. She was running second to last going into turn 3 and when I looked back up her and another Kart had wrecked. It looked like she was trying to get the Kart going again but it wasn't moving, the track officials got to her and then I noticed her front tires were pointing in opposite directions. They moved her Kart to the inside and I saw her getting out, I ran out and she said she was OK but the Kart had to be loaded up on a utility RV and hauled back to our pit. She was complaining about her legs hurting, we didn't see any cuts and got some ice for her. She was running fine going into the corner but she said another Kart in front of her had spun out and she didn't see it until it was too late and she ran right into them. She said it was her fault and felt really bad about it and wanted to make sure the other driver was OK and her legs hurt and she didn't want to go back out and her Kart was wrecked... - Pint Sized Racer Girl was not having fun. I looked at her Kart with all the twisted parts, bent rim and flat tire, I told her she wouldn't have to go back out as I couldn't fix the Kart. Then it happened...

People starting coming over and asking how bad it was and I said we were done for the night. The next thing I know they bring tools and lights over and were taking parts off and had me running around trying to find matching parts and if I couldn't find a part they took the broken piece back to their trailers to work on it. We race against them but here they were pulling out their spare parts and working on our Kart to get Jaz out for the feature. Around this time Jaz stands up and says she's ready to get in and go back out.

We almost made it... I would like to thank everyone who helped us, it was a mad house and we came so very close. Jaz was able to go over and check on the other Kart, she really felt bad about running into them, they let her know that everyone was OK and that it was just a racing thing. It all happened so fast...
