Family night at the track! Jaz has 9 family members that show up to watch (Grandma Joanne, Uncle Rich, Uncle Shawn, Aunt Jill, Cousin Ashley, Cousin Courtney & Cousin Lee along with adopted family members Rob & Dawn). For the 1st heat race Jaz started up on the pole but fell back a few positions. 14t was trying to get around Jaz but couldn't pull the pass and took a cheap shot in turn 2 and spun Jaz around facing oncoming Karts and she took a direct hit, it was a bumper to bumper hit and no damage to either Karts. Jaz got turned around and joined the field and no caution came out. Jaz finished last and was highly upset coming off the track! She wanted to know who spun her and when she found out it was 14t she was ready to march down and have a frank discussion with the driver. I told her we were not allowed into other drivers pits and this was the reason because of tempers. We were walking back to our pit and guess who we came upon? I saw the kart and asked who drove it (I was very calm), this girl stated that it was her kart and then her Dad popped his head out and asked if it was us that got spun in the corner. Turns out that she did not do it on purpose and that it was just a racing thing. Her name was Tiara and Jaz and her hung out the rest of the night - all was well.
The 2nd heat race and Jaz started in the back and gained a few positions to finish 7th. Not sure if she just found her mojo or if it was because she had people watching but Jaz was more aggressive on the track and making more passes.
Jaz started last on the inside for the feature. I told her to pass at least 4 Karts and she would get a trophy for the night (I was incorrect and should have told her 5 Karts). At the start of the race she was passed and was running dead last, but she was on a mission! She managed to pass 3 Karts and was trying to catch her 4th Kart which was running about a third of a lap in front of her. She was on a charge and managed to get on the back bumper by the white flag, with 1 lap to go she had to make her move. Coming off turn 4 she tried to make the pass but didn't have enough. I think with another lap she would have done it. She told me coming off the track that she wanted a trophy and was trying all she could to pass 4 Karts. She finished 7th missing out on a 5th place trophy. She ran a great race and had lots of family cheering her on and even made a new friend - A good time was had by all!
