Got Kart out yesterday (Thursday) and washed it and lubed it all up. Started it up and let it warm up but it really wanted to run... Friday, and what do we do on Friday? We race!

Once again Jaz had a cheering section (Rich, Jill, Ashley, Courtney & Grandma Grebe) came out to watch the show. 12 Karts showed up for the Chargers class and they broke them down to A & B heats with 6 Karts each. The track was really wet and Jaz was very nervous about going out and running her hot laps. Her class was the last out so the track wasn't bad for her laps but when she came off I had to get her back up to the start because her class was racing first. For heat 1 she lined up in the 4th position. On the start the Karts shuffled around a bit and Jaz fell back to 5th and ran there till the end. Heat 2 and she started 3rd and held her position but J45 was coming up on her fast! They battled for a bit and Jaz fell back to 4th where she finished. After both heat races she came across the scale at 312lbs

Before the feature we filled her gas tank and left the set-up the same. There was some confusion as to whether the Chargers were going to run right after the Rookies and then we would have a break before the rest of the features or if the Chargers were running after the break with the rest of the classes. All the Chargers were up and ready to go but they ended up decided to run them after the break. Jaz spent the time talking strategies with some of the other drivers. The track was in really good shape and had lots of bite, our set-up was perfect, I told Jaz she would be able to run wide open! Jaz started in the 10th spot and I told her she would have to pass at least 5 Karts to get a trophy. During the beginning of the race there was some spinning and sliding in the front and Jaz split 2 Karts and came out of the mess in the 4th spot! The 5th place Kart was starting to make some ground but then Jaz just took off chasing down 3rd place and made some distance between her and 5th place. She ran a great line and had no problems coming out of turn 2 and was just sliding a bit out of turn 4 (just the way she likes to run). Jaz finished 4th and was pumped!

Before we left for the track I placed "Powered by Phelps" on top of her cage. I thought it was hilarious, but racer girl wanted it off before she got out on the track. (Phelps picked up his 8th gold medal Saturday night in the Olympics - Awesome!)

Jaz was pumped about starting 10th and finishing 4th
