Removed another weight from the seat and rolled across the scales at 313-314lbs. I dropped the pressures in the tires from last week and Jaz seemed to run a bit better. Hot night with no wind.
Heat 1 - Jaz started second and she was running better and found herself in a fight with the #24 for the 3rd position. He ran her clean and made his move with 2 laps to go. He was on her bumper several times in the turns and could have "turned" her for position but took his time and made his move when he needed to, very smart racing. I found him and his Dad later and expressed my respect for his driving style. Jaz was happy with her finish and much better mood than last week!
Heat 2 - Jaz started 6th and finished 5th. She came off track with much more confidence and was getting her groove back!
Feature - Jaz started 6th and the race had several re-starts with wrecks and bumping and confusion before getting off. #J45 took a hard hit to the front and was taken off the track. Coming off the track I let Jaz know she got 5th and racer girl was VERY happy but her 1st concern was if Jaelynn in the #J45 was OK, we stopped by her pit and the Kart has some very bad damage and her knees were sore but she was OK. The top 5 get trophies and get to stand on the podium. Ed was calling out names of the winners and looked down at his sheet and then looked out in the crowd and found Jaz and then announced her name - it was very cool!
We moved Jaz up to Jr1 and she never came in above the top 5, the next year we moved her down to the new "Chargers" class and she improved. This year she moved back to Jr1 and in only her 2nd race she has already brought home a trophy. This week Jaz has moved up from last to 8th in points.
