June 26th 2009
It's been several weeks since Mother Nature has let us race and we were ready! I had mounted the in-car camera to the back of the roll bar for a better shot of Jaz's hands and feet - The videos did not come out very well as I forgot about Jaz's helmet, although I have great shots of the helmet taking up half the screen! She was complaining about the lack of steering with the front wheels so I removed one of the weights from her seat and moved it up front by the outside tire. During hot laps I told her just to get a feel for any difference and she went out and was running a bit too hard and tried to fit 2 Karts into the space for only 1 Kart. When she came off the track I jumped her about making contact with another Kart and she replied that she had the position but the other Kart came down on her. I informed racer girl that it was only hot laps and not actual racing but racers are racers and she insisted that she had done nothing wrong. I didn't see any damage on Kart but re-informed racer girl that we have to keep things together in order to make the Feature.
Heat 1 - Jaz started 6th and was running very well. She got 5th and then got 4th and was trying hard for 3rd but finished 4th. Moved up 2 spots
Heat 2 - Jaz started 3rd and wasted no time in jumping out for the lead! Out front she was starting to run away from the pack but had #97 on her rear. He got into turn 3 too hot and too low and started to spin Jaz around, she caught it and finished second! It was real exciting and Jaz did a great job of driving but she finished 2nd., still a good race as she moved up a spot. After the race we went to find the #97 to make sure he was OK but they found us first and apologized for turning Jaz. She understood that it wasn't intentional, just hard racing. I'm sure he was beating himself up because he had a solid 2nd place but ended up finishing last. We thought it was very cool for them to come over and talk to us.
Feature - Jaz started 4th and finished 5th for the 3rd time in a row, at least she is consistent! Before the feature I found our inside side panel was cracked and hanging loose, nothing that some racing tape couldn't fix. With 14 Karts in the feature it was a very good points night for Jaz, she is still tied for 8th.

Other News - Jaz got contacts so she did not have to wear her glasses tonight. We sold Jaz's old Kart and they brought it to the track tonight, it has been repainted blue with some racing stripes and flames on the side.
