I came back from RAGBRAI (I rode for 2 days) and contacted Bob at Mischief Motorsports and he did find a bumper for me but it would not be in till later in the week. I spent Thursday night getting the rest of the Kart ready. It wasn't till after 3pm Friday that I got started with the new bumper. It was just off a bit and I was having trouble getting it to bend properly. I figured we would not have the Kart ready and gave ourselves a dead-line of no latter than 5:30pm to leave for the track before we would call it a bust. We took our time getting everything right and finished and looked up at the clock, it was 5:20pm! Pack it up racer girl, we are going racing!
We got to the track and found Ed had worked more on the surface and it was in really good shape. Jaz ran her hot laps and said the Kart and the track were great! She crossed the scales at 315lbs. We left things alone for Heat 1
Heat 1 - Jaz started on the pole and had a great start. She was leading with 2 laps to go and got passed and finished 3rd. Pulling into the pits and noticed that some contact had tore and bent left side nerf bumper and side panel. "Racing" tape to the rescue and we pulled bolts and moved nerf bar out a bit.
Heat 2 - Jaz started last, quickly made a pass and moved up 1 spot. She was watching action in front of her and saw 2 karts go around, was able to move around and picked up 2 more spots! Smart driving for racer girl, she finished 6th
Feature - 13 Karts and Jaz was starting 6th. Problems with track generator, no lights and storm clouds with lightning approaching, topped off gas before feature. Got up to line and we were the next class to roll out when races were called for lightning and rain. We darted back to pits, loaded up and headed back home.
