Hot Laps - ran across scale at 313lbs, 19 Karts showed up to race

Heat 1 - Jaz started 6th and fell back to last before making inside pass for 9th. Coming back to pits Jaz was very quiet, took off her helmet and said she did not want to race anymore because once she got back out she was afraid she was going to crash again. We walked around the pits together and I let her know that I was not going to have her do anything she did not want to, but I thought she should walk away on her own terms and not because she was afraid. She went and sat in the van. I found a couple of other kids that she races with (Tiara & Kale) and asked them if they would talk to Jaz because she didn't want to race anymore. After a few minutes, Jaz came out of the van and said she was ready!

Heat 2 - Started 6th and fell back to 10th. Two crashes on track and Jaz restarted 4th and held position for finish - Jaz was back!

Feature - Originally had all Karts set up for one Feature with Jaz starting 12th. At last minute track decided to run two features - I think it was a good call. Jaz started 6th and at the start of the race fell back to last but soon started making ground and got up to 6th. She tried inside, outside but could not find away around 5th place #00. On the final lap they came out of the last corner side by side. It was close but the track called her 6th. She thought she had 5th on the line but that is not how it was called. She was upset at the call but we will take that energy and move on and use it next week.
