Help with printer sharing on XP/Vista Network

I had a client that had a Windows XP desktop with printer attached that is shared. A new Windows Vista notebook that is connected with his wireless router. The Vista computer could see the shared printer but would not connect with it. I tried the Add/Printer wizard but it would not find the printer. I ran across this tip and it worked!

Write down the name of the computer and the name of the shared printer on the XP desktop and now go to your Vista computer.

1) Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer

2) Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port (the default in the drop down box is Local Port, do not change that) select Next.

3) A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the path of the computer name and printer (\\computer name\printer name) that you wrote down such as:

\\desktop\HPLaserj

That's it, everything should work now!
