How can I change Word 2007 to use single space instead of the default double spacing?

Okay, I upgraded and now I'm running the new Microsoft Office 2007, but why is everything different? I really hate the fact that it seems that all my documents are double spaced instead of single spaced and I have to change them each time. I have to admin there is a certain way that I like my documents to look and I hate the fact that I have to make the changes each time in Word 2007. I have decided to change the way the startup document looks like so I don't have to make those changes anymore. This is taken right from the Word 2007 help.

Change the Normal.dotm template

Any changes that you make to Normal.dotm will be applied to documents that you create in the future.

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button Button image, and then click Open.
  2. Click Templates (Under Favorite Links), and then double-click the Normal.dotm file to open it.
  3. To be certain that you're working in the default template, check to see that Normal.dotm appears in the Word title bar.
  4. Make any changes that you want to the fonts, margins, spacing, and other settings. You can use the same commands and features that you use to change a document — but remember that any changes that you make to Normal.dotm will be applied to documents that you create in the future.
  5. When you have finished, click the Microsoft Office Button Button image, and then click Save.

The changes that I made for myself was that I don't like the fact that Word 2007 seems to double space everything, I changed under "Page Layout" the After Spacing from default 10 pt to 0. I also changed the Margins to narrow which changes them to .5" all around. Just minor changes but it saves me several steps every time I created a new document.
