Win 98 Setup stops with error SU0350 - Error Code 5001
You can only push the OK button and then the computer shuts down.
The cause of this problem is the wrong license.txt file in the folder windows\help.
The right license.txt is in the Windows folder. At startup Win 98 compares these two files. If these two files are not equal the error message appears.
Here is how to correct this -
1) Press F8 to get the Windows Start Menu
2) Boot in DOS mode
3) Copy the license.txt from the windows folder tot he windows\help folder
4) Reboot the machine

Another work-around for this is simple.
I had this problem with a Win98 computer at work. Since I used to be a tech and computer store manager, I got stuck doing the tech work around there.
Edit Layout1.inf & Layout2.inf in the C:\Windows\Inf folder. Remove the line that specifies the license.txt file size in each file.
Works every time.
