What is this Blaster worm I keep hearing about?

It's a new type of infection. It does not arrive by email but you can become infected by just being connected to the Internet. It exploits a flaw in Windows but you have to give Microsoft credit with releasing a patch, the only problem is that most people don't keep their software updated. You should always have a current Anti Virus program running and make sure it is updated. You should also run Windows Update and install any critical updates. This attack does not seem to damage any data files but the next one may not be so kind.

Norton has released a repair tool that you can download and run. It will scan your system and repair it if is found to have become infected with the Blaster worm. You can get the repair tool and read all about it here at:
