RAGBRAI 23 - 1995

We decided to do the whole ride this year and we brought along our friend Tim. Joy, my wife drove the mini-van that was packed with all our gear. It was the first time for my son, Jake, and he started by riding half days with Tim and I. Jake, age 11, was a real trooper. Joy, our faithful driver, even found us a motel room for one night. Joy and Jake had the tent already set up and found a vacant room and took it. It was a great surprise to Tim and I as we had a "hot" shower and a soft bed to sleep in, not to mention the hot tub and breakfast in the morning. What a year! We met Lori early in the week and kept running into her everyday. I was just amazed at the large parties in some of the towns! Remember jumping into the lake? The steepest hill in Iowa? Log rolling? The road that was flooded over? Reaching the end was really great, you can't imagine the feeling you get knowing that you rode your bike all the way across the state.

We drove into town, ate breakfast and started the ride

A homemade water slide. Wow! that was neat.

A portable bar?

Jake always manages to find the water!

I couldn't believe I actually had made it!
